How did you request the validation? Did your request it from the credit reporting agencies? If so, it will almost always be validated. They require the bare minimum to validate a debt. If you want a true validation, you will have to request it from the original creditor or who ever is reporting the debt (collection agency). Send the request via certified mail with return receipt. Keep a copy of all communications. Request a complete payment history of the account, a copy of the contract you signed making you liable for the account and a copy of the contract giving them the right to collect if not the original creditor. Do not accept any less than this information. If they don't validate the debt they will be required to stop reporting to the credit agencies. They can legally try to collect the debt forever but can only report after they validate or for 7 years. |
